Faux News - Propaganda Arm of the Republican Party

Okay, this post is a little bit old (I've been busy), but Anita Dunn, Obama's Communications Director, told CNN that Fox News is "the research arm or communications arm of the Republican Party" and that "it is more of a wing of the Republican Party". This is not a secret for those of us who are aware of the extreme lying and right-wing ideological spin that Faux News engages in. The media watchdog group Media Matters for America has an entire section devoted to the bullshit that FN engages in on a regular basis (http://mediamatters.org/topic/onlyonfox/).

Anyways, right after Anita rightfully accused Fox News of its completely obvious bias, Fox ran a poll on its website:



Look at the choices that Fox gives. There is no option to select that says Faux News is wrong. The poll is complete and utter bullshit. How extremely ironic. Fox is mad that it is called biased and posts a completely biased and ideological poll to show how non-biased it is. How can it call itself a news organization?! How can people see it as "fair and balanced"? Wake up, sheeple!

I'm Joining the Republican Party

What could possibly get me to switch from Independent to Republican? Two words: Meghan McCain. -=pssst, call me!=-

But seriously, Meghan McCain should be the face of the Republican party. Her views are moderate and she speaks with the eloquence of somebody who stands by their beliefs, but won't shout down whomever she is debating. Intelligent, well-spoken, and the daughter of a presidential candidate and war hero. But for some reason, that harpy Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, and other quack fringe conservatives crap all over her, degrading her weight amongst other things (Ingraham said about McCain that she is "too plus-sized to be a cast member on the television show The Real World) . That's it guys, just alienate your moderate base and cater to the tea party/birther wing. You must not want control of the Congress, the Presidency, or the Supreme Court anytime soon. Keep it up.

Justice of the Peace in Louisiana denied the marriage of a white woman to a black man by saying "We don't do interracial weddings or marriages." The couple later got married from another justice of the peace, but the original one, Keith Bardwell, refuses to apologize, saying that in his experience, most interracial marraiges don't last. Bardwell also claims he's not a racist and that he was concerned for the children who might be born of the relationship.

Umm....what fucking century is this?

Welcome Aboard

Oh yeah, the best newsletter ever, The Raised Fist, is back in an online, bloggy format. I will be posting some hard-to-find articles out there that I think everybody should be aware of. I will also be ranting and raving, which is the thing I do best. The far right extremists are fighting hard to ruin this country, insisting President Obama is born in Kenya, even when there is a birth certificate staring at them dead in the face. They claim Obama will kill your grandmother, that he is a communist, muslim, nazi terrorist. The political discourse has turned vile and ugly and some (myself included) think this can easily lead to violence. The Glenn Becks and the Rush Limbaughs and the Bill O'Shittys and the Michael Savages and the Ann Coulters of the world spew their hate under the cover of freedom of speech, but listen to the underbelly of their message and you will see a deep, dark miasma boiling underneath the service. It's not so far-fetched that some extremist will go to the next level and threaten violence against the president. I mean, where will it end? Next thing you know, people will be showing up at the president's events with firearms and bastardizing the infamous Thomas Jefferson phrase "The Tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants", making it quite an overt threat.
